10 Reasons You Should Love Freedom Farms
We love Freedom Farms as much as the next person. And here are the top reasons why.
10. Learning Opportunities
Each one of the Kings could give an hour-long answer to any question about farming. The knowledge they possess about their craft is unlimited and unmatched in the area. And they are eager to share that knowledge with the surrounding community. At Freedom Farms, we want to help you and yours live a happy, healthy, sustainable, farm fresh life. Whether your child’s class wants to take a field trip to learn from Farmer Tim, or your office is looking for somewhere to hold a team-building event, Freedom Farms can provide you with not only the location and food, but the knowledge and education to match.
Need we say more? Baked fresh every morning, Freedom Farms donuts, scones, pastries, cookies, and more are hard to beat. And when we say hard to beat, we mean they actually can’t be beat. Made with fresh grains and fruit, and dough that is hand-tossed every morning, Freedom Farms Donut Shop allows you to start your morning with a farm to fork breakfast. You’ll have energy throughout the day and the motivation to take on the world.
8. Ideas and Insights
Miss the Farm Kings? With Freedom Farms Magazine, you get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at what the King family is up to delivered right to your doorstep each month. With fascinating content, informative interviews, professional photography, and even some coupons, our magazine sets us apart from other area farms. Freedom Farms Magazine is for the die-hard fan, the start-up farmer, the retired grandparents, or the farm fanatic.
With our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program, you can become an investor in the farm. The CSA program allows you to receive the freshest produce, meat, prepared foods, donuts, dairy, and even wildflowers! When you buy a share of the harvest, the farmers then use the money for seeds, greenhouse expenses, equipment, labor, and more. You invest in the farm, and in return, we provide you and your family with fresh, healthy food for weeks.
While located in Butler, Freedom Farms reaches people in all parts of the Pittsburgh region. Our traveling Farmers Market visits Peters Township, Market Square, Bloomfield, and Aspinwall weekly in the summer. These markets give our customers an opportunity, not only to buy fresh foods, but to interact with the Kings to find out just where there food is coming from. Many times, the fruits and vegetables are picked that very morning.
Whether it’s the Greenhouse Project Farmer Tim helped students with at Mars High School, or the large displays of Freedom Farms products at local Giant Eagles, our brand is everywhere. We stay local because we are local. We couldn’t do what we do without the support of the local community and we love to give back. With local vendors at our Dinners in the Field, we’re able to showcase businesses that share our mission of farm fresh food and sustainability.
Not familiar with this amazing dinner series? Well you should be! In true farm to fork fashion, enjoy dinner with the Kings at our beautiful new event center, located on the edge of the farm property with a stunning view of the pond and fields. Dinners take place Sundays from May to August, with drinks and entertainment included. Menus are announced the day of the event, to ensure that you receive the absolute freshest of foods.
3. Homemade Goodness
Who doesn’t love fresh, homemade dinners? With our monthly magazine feature Miss Lisa’s Kitchen, Freedom Farms brings you recipes straight from Miss Lisa herself. Her recipes are easy to recreate and can be made almost entirely of products you can find at the Market! Borrow some of her ideas to create a meal that can be enjoyed by your whole family. Maybe they’ll even help make it!
A hot topic these days, Freedom Farms practices sustainable farming, not just because it’s popular right now, but because our farming techniques are what set our products apart from the competition. Farmer Tim works hard to ensure the seeds he plants grow without the aid of chemicals or unnatural products. And Farmer Pete rises before the sun each morning so that the animals he raises are happy, healthy, and able to provide the best meat possible.
Everybody’s favorite farm family, the Kings are a special group. Born and raised with farming in their blood, each and every one of them has played a role in the business and how much it has grown. Whether you have a favorite King from their time on television, or you’ve never heard of us, the Kings are the force behind the farm. Full of humility, knowledge, character, and energy, they never fail to make customers happy.
