Luke’s always been a little different from the rest of his family because he’s never really been interested in farming. With good grades and a determined personality, Luke was able to graduate high school a year early to start college and pursue a career in the medical field as a doctor. Even with a busy schedule that keeps him away from the farm and business, Luke never forgets the importance of family and helps out with whatever he can when he’s home.
What is your role on the farm?
I don't get to spend too much time on the farm, since I go to school in Erie. When I am home, I try to be a help to Tim in the Fields, Joe at the bakery, and my mom in the gardens.
How do you see that role changing or growing in the future?
My role will remain the same until I can earn my MD. Then I will hope to be Freedom Farms’ primary health care provider, but only if my brothers refer to me as Dr. King.
What is your favorite family memory?
My favorite family memory is vacationing in the Outer Banks. It's a very rare occasion that my entire family is together and not concerned with business. Our vacations truly brought the best out of all my family members.
What is your favorite memory from the show?
My favorite memory from the show was the first Fall Festival. It was exciting for me because I did not anticipate coming home to such a successful, large event. Per usual, I also had the chance to surprise my family with a visit home.
What do you enjoy about the family business?
My favorite part about the family business is the food. As a college student, my diet is usually piss-poor. I enjoy returning to school from home with a plethora of farm products: bags of potatoes, countless frozen pies, free-range chicken eggs, etc.
What is something about you that viewers or customers might be surprised to learn?
I am an experienced traveler, both internationally and domestically. I've been to almost all of Eastern Europe, Haiti, Canada, France, Germany, and Roma, Italy. Viewers might also be surprised to know that I can eat an entire red onion in one sitting.
