Our story is one of hard work, dedication and determination.
While Freedom Farms may be less than a decade old, our business has done some pretty incredible things in a short amount of time and we take pride in how much we have grown. Here is a timeline highlighting some of the major events that have happened at Freedom Farms since its creation.
Company Begins with Farmers Market and Kings Farm
We started our family farm, Kings Farm, in Butler, PA as a place to grow what we were raised on and farmed all our lives: produce. Once we had produce to sell, we needed a place of business to sell it at. That’s when we opened the Farmers Market as a more accessible place to purchase our local food.

Freedom Farms Opens Boldy’s (Now The Donut Shop)
We wanted to open up a bakery, so that our sister, Elizabeth King, would have a place to exercise her professionally trained culinary skills. The bakery Boldy’s would eventually evolve into the present day Donut Shop, where we create donuts and baked pastries from scratch to give our customers a delicious, homemade taste.

Kings Farm Starts Raising Chickens
With the success of selling our produce and fruits, we started raising chickens for meat and eggs. From day one, our chickens have been free range and grass-fed, as well as antibiotic free and hormone free, and continue to be, so that our meats are fresh and great tasting. We also provide dozens of their fresh eggs every day at the Farmers Market.

Sizzle Reel Shoot For Farm Kings
Wanting to share our local farm story with people around the nation, we produced a sizzle reel about Freedom Farms and our family’s busy lifestyle. That sizzle reel eventually led to us starring in our own reality show on the Great American Country network called Farm Kings.

Kings Farm Starts Raising Cows and Pigs
Once we were confident in raising our chickens and selling their meat and eggs, we decided it was time to throw cows and pigs into the mix. With the addition of cows, we were also able to start selling milk and other dairy at the Farmers Market. Like our chickens, our cows and pigs are hormone free, antibiotic free and free roaming.

The Event Center Is Created
With the popularity of hosting events, such as weddings, on a farm rising, we decided to plot out a space on our land dedicated to letting people experience our farm, which we call the Event Center. We began building a pavillion for the space and right after the completion of the roof, we had our first event: our sister Elizabeth’s wedding. Now, we host other events throughout the summer season, like our weekly Dinners in the Field.
